Confessing animals deals with concepts of guilt and energetic transformation and salvation through incorporation. The work is inspired by traditional carnival customs of Cologne, Germany. Here the so called Nubbel, human sized straw puppets, act as scapegoats by incorporating the sins of the citizens. After witnessing the carnival festivities, they are burned or thrown into the river Rhein. The work consists of five Nubbel-like straw figures dressed in Adidas training suits, who are spaced around in the exhibition, joined by snakes made from yeast dough and banned by salt circles. During the exhibition confessions of the visitors are collected, at the end they are silently read and eaten by the artist.
