Das öde Haus
Performance, 2024, 150 min.
"Das öde Haus" (the desolate house) is a site-specific intervention at Haus Rüschhaus near Münster. Performances, sound installations, sculptures, drawings and costumes deal with the motif of the witch's house as a place of temptation, deception and camouflage, but also as a protective space and a space of possibility for self-determined actions. Described by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff as a "snail's shell", the private rooms of the poet and her wet nurse in the Rüschhaus house represent a place of retreat into intimate concentration and creativity. The witch's house, often used from the outside as a mystified projection surface and hermetic domicile of dubious narratives with feminine connotations, stands on the inside for safe spaces in which transformative forces can unfold. The barren house ducks away from the gaze of visitors and yet extends an unusual invitation.
With contributions from Jemima Rose Dean, Paula Erstmann, Nicolas Fehr, Rosanna Graf, Nschotschi Haslinger, House of Blaenk, Lisa Klosterkötter, and Paulina Nolte.
